Many ask, “What can a licensed vet tech do?” That is a great question! I can start by saying we can NOT do exams, diagnose, or form a treatment plan. What we can do is quite a long list: vaccines, injectable medications/treatments (allergy, heart worm prevention, etc.), help with ear/eye/oral medication administration, fluid administration/palliative care, blood glucose monitoring, heart worm or feline viral testing, nail trims/anal gland expression (no current exam needed), and more. Anything your veterinarian asks me to do in a house call I can legally do as long as your pet has a current annual exam on file with your veterinarian.
